RSC-RKC Joint Run
A fantastic turn-out of more than 120 hashers adorned the majestic entrance of our Club at the Kiara Anexxe on Friday 18th July 2008. A customary photo session and some preliminary “on-downs” launched the prestigious joint-run between the Royal Selangor Club Hash Section and the Royal Klang Club Hash chapter as the RSC Hash Section Grand Master Speedy flagged off the hashers.
The run began with a 400-metre warm-up trail, which later transformed into a 2 branch trail compelling the pack to choose between a shorter run and a more challenging route. The hares for the evening, Joint Masters Francis “Rose Chan” Law and “Commando” Bhupi set out that evening to do justice as the short trail comprised of a fair and moderate route with its share of slopes and hills so as not to deprive anyone of the much needed aerobic and “cardio” work-out.
Undeniably, the real test of endurance was left for those who braved and fearlessly confronted the long run and set upon climb after climb reaching greater heights and greener pastures. Ultimately, the reward was a sense of enormous achievement coupled the extraordinary and breathtaking views of the City hardly chanced upon, especially by our keen and enthusiastic guest runners from the Royal Klang Club.
Most runners were out before dark and were quick to take advantage of the luxurious and warm showers before appearing well groomed in the cream coloured t-shirts sponsored by Carlsberg. The circle took off without any delay or hesitation, as there were many sponsors to express thanks to including fellow hasher Allan Wong and the immeasurable support and backing of our superb team from Carlsberg.
The evening was further enhanced by an extensive array of local dishes displayed in sheer banquet style. The feasting was transformed into merriment as many hashers mingled amongst themselves and made their way to the dance floor unable to resist the sizzling performance by the 2 member band who had many a hashers out in groups and in couples on the dance floor till after hours as the band played on beyond its time owing to popular request. A big had to all, especially the host RSC and all our esteemed guests from RKC and some guest hashers from as far as Japan and the United Kingdom, who by their fun-filed presence and participation, contributed to the success of this much enjoyed annual joint event.
