RSC Hash Vaisakhi Run 2008
For a change the RSC Hash Sikh Connection decided to have the annual Vaisakhi Run at Dr Hardeep Singh’s mansion in Damansara Heights. Despite the drizzle, more than 150 members and their guests were at Hardeep’s residence to celebrate Vasakhi.
The run was a fairly decent one – there is really no much hashing territory in such an urbanised community. Still the hares, Rita Chili Padi and her other half Kuljit gave the hashers enough sweat – including climbing two mini hills – to build up their thirst and appetite. Our On-Sec and cameraman Shyam described it as a ‘helter skelter run’. All welcomed the great goodies such as the track bottom handed to the hashers just before the end of the run.
The man with the ‘dhol’ or Punjabi drum livened up the mood with his vigorous and lively beating of the drum which inspired hashers like Johan and Burns to shake their body and put their hands up.
The VIP for the night, Sports Chairman, Bala, in his short address thanked the Sikh Connection for organising this annual event which all Section members looked forward to.
Then it was ‘makan and minimum’ time with authentic Punjabi fare being dished out followed by show time. Our dynamite Alka stole the show with an inspiring performance in a court room drama involving a Mona Funny where the words ‘correct, correct, correct’ were heard many times. Shyam and Narinder were the supporting cast. Then Chili Padi Rita took to the stage to display her unique Punjabi dancing talent. It was great entertainment. The emcee for the night, Lakhbir Singh (chicken shit) was in his element.
The Punjabi music machine entertained the crowd with disco hits and Hardeep’s hall was filled to capacity.
A big hand to the Organising Committee led by Lakhbir Singh Boon and Dr Hardeep for kindly playing host. For the record, the other members in the Committee were Dev, Kashminder, Jaggu, Rita and Charles Francis.
It was definitely a great evening. All had a great time. On On
